United States launched apocalyptic war against Taliban in response to 9/11 attack, which killed approximately 3,000 people. Around 43 countries joined US in the war and deployed their thousands of troops in Afghanistan. Though, the 18-year-long war dethroned Taliban but it wreaked havoc in the country as more than 1,00,000 civilians were killed only in the last decade. While the US and UK lost 2,441 and 445 soldiers respectively. US-led coalition forces failed to vanquish Taliban, which controls many districts of Afghanistan. Now, the US government was compelled to sign a peace agreement with Taliban. As per the deal, Taliban will not attack foreign troops and will not allow foreign insurgent groups to use Afghanistan as a launch pad to conduct strikes. The US-led forces will make complete withdrawal within 14 months.Read Less
